Mary Martin Galbraith

Born: unknown  Died: May 29, 1821

Mary (Martin) Galbraith moved to Knox County after the American Revolution with her husband, John Galbraith.. Her husband built a plantation on Turkey Creek on two thousand acres in Knox County and together they raised eight chidren. 

 The Knoxville Register announced Mary's death on May 29, 1821: Mary (Martin) Galbraith died on the 16th of May 1821 at the Plantation of John Galbraith, Sr., (deceased) on Turkey Creek, his widow Mrs. Mary Galbraith in her 64th year. She was a good wife, a good mother, & a kind neighbor, & lived & died in the happy expectation of a glorious immortality. Her interment took place on the 17th at the Pleasant Forest Meeting House. She was followed to the grave by an only daughter & six sons, together with a large concourse of neighbors & friends, who testified their silent grief, & admiration of her domestic virtues.
